In the context of the 50th Independence Day Celebrations of our Beloved Motherland and its people, we wish to share some of our profound reflections, concerns and good wishes.

Mauritius is well and good… part and parcel of the planet earth and of this world. What we are as collective nation and as individuals impact on the whole. Each and every one of us has a unique and crucial part to play by virtue of our uniqueness. As we witness the upheavals and chaos at various levels, the manifold problems and present-day challenges along with the elevated vision and hopes each one carrying in their hearts of hearts, it is our sacred duty to endeavour by all means to preserve peace, order, stability and harmony in our country and worldwide. Talking about peaceful co-existence and living in harmony, we would say that there can be no peace if we are not aligned with truth. The world direly needs the power of truth. One eternal truth is that, we are all by nature divine and we have all deep within us, the perennial light of eternal wisdom as children of God, the Almighty Father. Let us validate this truth. In our national anthem, so gracefully encapsulates such a wonderful message:

Glory to thee, Motherland,

O Motherland of mine.

Sweet if thy beauty,

Sweet if thy fragrance,

Around thee we gather

As one people,

As one nation,

In peace, justice and liberty.

Beloved country, may God bless thee

For ever and ever.

Should each one of us look inside our heart and pledge to be true to our own inner selves and to God… we can easily be a sample and example in our own eyes and to the world… a beacon of light… a lighthouse. All that we search is within. On the auspicious day of 12th March, let us, even if we happen to be a minority, commit ourselves to tap within, switch on the light of awareness of our own inner resources, connect to the Divine Light above, and draw upon divine strength to master our various challenges we are facing as a nation… rise and thrive. ‘May God Bless Thee for ever and ever’.
